The United States is "doing the right thing" by pursuing a diplomatic solution to the threat that Iran may soon gain a nuclear weapon, but the world cannot afford to wait too long, Israel's defense minister said Tuesday.

Sir, the only country in the Near East that has a consideral amount of nuclear weapons, is Israel. The only country in this region that has not sign the NPTreaty, is Israel. The only country in this region that does not allow an audit of the existing nuclear facilities, is Israel.
Iran on the other side does not have any weapons on this sort, signed the NPT and allows inspections, and is according to todays knowledge working on a peaceful scheme. Israel on the other hand tries to avoid that Iran becomes a modern state that can use nuclear facilities for peaceful means for the benefit of the peoplke of Iran. One thing we should also remember is a phrase that was coined by Mr. B. Gates before he became US Def. Secretary: The Iran has to work for a robust defence system because it is surrounded by many nuclear powers, in the East by Pakistan, in the North by the Russian Federation, in the South by the US (in the Gulf) and in the East by Israel.
