US President Barack Obama and Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev signed a landmark treaty Thursday committing to major nuclear arms cuts and made a joint warning to Iran to expect sanctions over its nuclear drive.

I cannot understand why the Soviets would play ball with the U.S. regarding Iran. Russia is heavily invested in Iran and stands to lose the badly needed oil Iran possesses AND disrupt the vital IP pipeline which has already been delayed by U.S. meddling and war. I cannot see Russia going along with either crippling sanctions or an invasion simply because this would not be in her best interest. Maybe this is just dialogue meant to dissuade the U.S, and its master, Israel, from attacking Iran which would force a defense of Iran by both Russia and China (both of which have national interests in Iran).

Obama, please shut up with your rhetoric. Iran is actually a SIGNATORY of the NPT. Why don't you tell India or Pakistan or Israel to put their Nukes up for discussion while they oppress THEIR people, and in the case of Israel, Oppress other people that are not of their race.
If you want to punish countries for breaking IAEA regulations you will have to punish Turkey, Finland etc.
NPT Countries make minor mistakes all the time. But nobody blows them up out of proportion like the US does about Iran, an innocent country who has done nothing to the United states, even though they have reason to.
Obama has no respect for the NPT or the IAEA.

Your absolutely correct in your statements & I concur. I wonder how binding, or meaningful a treaty is under contract law?, if one of the signatories can dismiss the treaty as void, if she feels threatened by another, as is the case with Russia/MDS-in relation to this treaty ? One has to wonder if this is a treaty at all?
In respect to Iran, I would lose respect for Russia if it stood by & let Israel, America attack Iran with Nuke BB as the US have indicated they would. It is not in Russia's interest to forsake an ally like Iran for so called allies like the USA, who's only wish is to see Russia Weak + Nullified. Lets hope its just another Russian chess move?
