Myanmar announced the enactment of long awaited laws on Monday that set the stage for the country's first election in 20 years to be held sometime this year.
I have just come back from Myanmar to see for myself, having been bombarded with negative media what the country was all about. Firstly as I suspected most of the propaganda given to the western public is just that propaganda. This does not mean I support the generals but I do the truth, sometimes that hurts but it is still the truth. Here goes: The western backed so called pro democracy color revolution, regime change, funded by the CIA are finished, after 20 years they have been proven to be useless. This is why Senator Web was in Yangoon to discuss rapprochement with the generals. Its no surprise that the Aung Sung factions has doubts about contesting this elections. I doubt they have much support with the people with there stance on sanctions, sanctions hurt the people of Myanmar and not the general, not one bit. The stance that tourists should not visit Myanmar has angered the people as well, but that's failed since from Australia alone tourism has increased by 300% mostly there are a ton of Germans and swedes visiting Myanmar, like me, many have fallen in love with the people. In relation to the military having reserved seats in the parliament, this formula also works in Malaysia among many other states in Asia, if its not military, its ethnic Malays or in the case of Fiji, ethnic Fijians. So if this formula is unfair, then condemn most states in Asia. The west by having sanctions are hurting average descent people in Myanmar, maybe that's what the west wants. Assuming the generals want to improve the life of average Myanmar people? How can they? With sanctions in place? Maybe that the real game. WHAT THE PEOPLE OF MYANMAR WANT IS STABILITY, MORE JOBS, BETTER FUTURE FOR THERE CHILDREN, MAKING END MEET BY TOURISM. WHAT THEY DON'T WANT IS WESTERN STYLE US DEMOCRACY, NEITHER DID THE RUSSIANS, AFTER YEARS.You cant eat democracy can you?, you cant buy food with it. Ask the Ukrainian with the failed Orange revolution as failed as this saffron revolution. Questions are most country's in Asia democratic or Authoritarian? Malaysia, Singapore, China , the Kingdom of Thailand? the Middle East? Finally do you think the UK/ USA given there ,want Democracy in Myanmar or do you think they want to steal the oil, natural gas plus put military bases in Myanmar? Read Orwells" animal farm before you answer.
