The Army said Wednesday it has filed criminal charges against a single-mom soldier who refused to deploy to Afghanistan last year, arguing she had no family able to care for her infant son.
While I am very much in sympathy with the young single mom’s decision, and while I am repelled by the government’s actions in this matter, may I ask the young, single mother what on earth she is doing in the military?
Surely keeping her home together by temporarily seeking local employment in her own locale while awaiting the day when a young man will offer her marriage and a home is far better than joining the military.

Isn't taking care of her child a universal women-right issue? Why is it just restricted to right-to-work and right-to-sex?
