President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

What a crock!
After killing a couple of dozen civilians in Pakistan, Obama officially became a war criminal only three days into his administration.
John Lennon was right. "Nothing is real".

I hope the peace prize will encourage Obama to go for peace. Pull the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and Stop the drone attacks on Pakistan.
If the prize is just based on his speeches then it should be for literature — fiction at that.

Give Brand Obama the Nobel Speech Prize.

The most ironic part of this is that the election of Barack Obama is the single greatest cause of the nigh eradication of the U.S. anti-war movement.

What the…? Far out, if he can be awarded a Nobel peace prize after less than a year as president, what's he going to get in 3 years? A gold medal at the London Olympics? Obviously he wont actually have to compete in any sport to earn one…

Sir, this is a very intelligent move because it will encorage him to along the lines stipulated in the election campaign, which he won first against the Clinton family and then more important against the Bush people and the Republicans. This price will bolster his confidence to end the 40 years Israeli/US war against the Palestinians, to end the 6 years war in Iraq and to find a solutution for the Afghan people who have not seen peace for decades. There should be also an A-bomb free zone in the MId-East and a peaceful Gulf. There are also a lot of domestic problems he inherited but need to be solved. The Nobel peace price will be an incentive to master these problems.

I voted for President Obama because of his promise of change and hope, but he has clearly not earned this token yet.
I expected some action based on his campaign promise… "I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war; you can take that to the bank." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr9ywEFRQkQ If a man's word cannot be trusted, what good is the man?
President Obama's promise is unambiguous, yet he wars as resolutely as Bush, and worse, he has killed the anti-war movement. While I voted for President Obama ONCE, to me he is already a lame duck.

Gee, who's next "Iggy the lunatic" Lieberman, the Israeli love muffin?

Given this award owes its birth to the invention of dynamite, this is entirely appropriate. It is just a piece of paper and a piece of metal … it means nothing at this point.
